Smith Hartvigsen recently hosted visitors from the International Visitor Leadership Program with the United States Department of State.  The luncheon included an open discussion regarding the current and historical roles of women in political transitions, civil society, government, business, politics, and education in promoting community stability, security, and well-being. The luncheon was sponsored by Utah Women Run, a nonpartisan organization, and was presented to the Utah Global Diplomacy visitors of the International Visitor Leadership Program with the United States Department of State.
Presenters were Utah Women Run’s Melanie Hall, Chair; Erin Rider, Vice Chair; Ann Mackin, Emeritus and Founding Member; and Lisa Watts Baskin, Emeritus, Founding Member, and Of Counsel attorney at Smith Hartvigsen. The panelists discussed the history and mission of Utah Women Run, which has since 2011, recruited and trained women to campaign and run for elected offices and to secure positions on boards and commissions.
The seventeen attendees were from numerous countries who serve in the highest levels of government.
The international leaders traveled to the United States from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestinian Territories, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Tunisia.
